Are you a Nutella fan? Well, who isn’t! My son eats Nutella out of the jar with a spoon. This is not a problem for me because I would very happily join him. But, Ziv? oh my god. Noooo. He freaks out. He always says to me. ‘That is way too much sugar to give the kids. We must teach our kids the right good eating habits” Ah, well, first this mama needs to learn how to stay away from Nutella only can she consider teaching her kids to stay away from Nutella. Know what I mean? Honestly, though aren’t we allowed to have a few vices. I mean I try as much as I can to cook healthy but this is Nutella. I love adding it to my ice creams, pastries, brownies, etc. Have you ever eaten a bowl of vanilla ice cream and topped with Nutella? One of my favorites when we were at the university. Absolute heaven. Unlike today,  back then my weight was not an issue.

About these pastries

These Nutella puff pastries are the simplest things to make for a quick snack. Especially when you have kids over on play dates and you need to make something quick. My Aadi is just six now so he often has friends coming over and you know kids are always hungry and they all love Nutella. Caution – always check the parents if they are ok with you feeding their kids Nutella. Even if the kid is not nut allergic some parents think it’s too much sugar. You can use a ready-to-roll store-bought puff pastry or a batch of homemade puff pastry. Puff pastry is very versatile and we used it when making the maple, strawberry and vanilla napoleons as well.

Step by step instructions

Preheat the oven at 190 C / 380 F.Line the baking tray with parchment for easy cleanupOpen the puff pastry sheet out over a lightly floured surface to prevent sticking. Cut the puff pastry in half so you have two equal squares – 2 squaresNow cut each square into half and half again – 4 squaresMaking it a total of 8 squaresPlace the squares on the parchment-lined baking tray.Add a heaping tablespoon of Nutella in the center of each square.Brush the edges with water – very lightly dab of water.Fold one side over the other – this will give you a triangle.Make sure the edges are sealed well so the Nutella stays in when baking.Once all the squares are filled and sealed.Bake in a preheated oven for about 10 to 12 minutes.Once baked – cool on a cooling rack.Caution – The Nutella inside the pastry is really HOT and bubbling. No matter how tempted you are do not attempt to bite into them and definitely do not let the kids touch the hot pastry.Enjoy!
